The Anemone 'de Caen', 'Anemone coronaria', a fall planted tuber, produces a delightful combination of mixed colors such as bright red, blue, white and lavender flowers with black centers and bold markings. If they are planted close together they will make an excellent ground cover. Anemones grow well in southern climates. When left in the ground to perennialize, they form magnificent flower carpets.The De Caen Anemone will flower for 2 to 3 weeks in early to mid spring. Anemones are great for containers and borders. This plant will attract butterflies. Note Soak the tuber in tepid water for about 12 hours before planting to promote early sprouting.
