Clematis Clair de Lune, Clematis 'Clair de Lune™', is adorned with elegance and grace. Clair de Lune, raised by Raymond J. Evison, has lovely 6 7 flowers of white that is suffused with lavender which becomes darker towards the edge of the wavy petals. The striking dark anthers make a wonderful contrast to the lighter flowers. Grows well in any garden area, but flowers retain color best in a partly shady location. A compact and free flowering clematis! Clematis 'Clair de Lune™' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established they take a season or two to get going. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one third to one half of some stems.
