Coneflower Meringue, Echinacea purpurea 'Meringue' PPAF, produces creamy yellow pom poms with apple green centers, set atop white ray petals, creating this delicious meringue coneflower. As the flower ages, Echinacea 'Meringue' PPAF, opens as flat as a daisy, and as it matures the center cone grows upward and develops short, puffy petals that give it that gumdrop look. A delight for songbirds, this distinctive knee high variety was introduced by AB Cultivars and blooms from mid to late summer. 'Meringue' has a huge number of blooms which is marvelous, but it's the compact, easily controlled habit that is so impressive! For best results, plant in full sun in a well drained area. Echinacea is known for its large flower heads that turn to seed in the fall. It is a great choice for cut flowers, and it adds a wilderness look to your garden. Not only is it a prized perennial for many gardeners, but it is also said to be a potent medicine. Echinacea is said to increase immune function, reduce the effects of colds and flu’s, fights off viral, bacterial and fungal infections and purify the blood and flush waste from the lymphatic system.
