Quartz Creek Rush Grass, Juncus effusus 'Quartz Creek', is an evergreen rush with an upright habit that adds texture to the landscape or water setting. The round stems are very narrow and form a gracefully arching mound. Soft Rush thrives in moist to wet conditions and is tolerant of a wide variety of soils, including clay. Looks great in a large container planting since it is a vertical grower with narrow, soft round stems and flowers in early summer. When used either in the back or middle of a container, it adds height and drama to the arrangement. Juncus 'Quartz Creek' is a warm season grass. Warm season grasses won't start growing until mid to late spring or even early summer. Their major growth and flowering happens when the weather is hot. They will usually turn shades of brown for the winter. Easily grown in moist to wet soils, including standing water to 4” deep, in full sun locations. Tolerates light shade, but best in full sun. Notwithstanding its preference for moist soils, soft rush will perform surprisingly well in average garden soils as long as they receive even moisture.
