Lilac Mount Baker

Mount Baker Lilac, Syringa x hyacinthiflora 'Mount Baker', is a cross done by F. L. Skinnner, Dropmore, Manitoba. The cultivar is very hardy and blooms before French Hybrid Lilacs. It produces single white blossoms and looks great as a large shrub for background use. A profuse bloomer, it forms a shrub 8 feet high by 10 feet wide, and exhibits autumn coloring. This hybrid and its offspring show some disease resistance. Promptly deadhead spent blossoms to produce more robust blooms for the following year. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies andor birds and requires average water needs water regularly do not overwater. Mount Baker Lilac prefers full sun, good drainage and air circulation. It tolerates light shade, but best bloom is in full sun. It can be used in many situations, including shrub borders, informal hedges and perennial borders. Being very showy and fragrant, it makes a wonderful screen or border specimen.
