The Red La Soda Organic Heirloom Potato has a smooth, red skin, deep eyes, white flesh and good for boiling baking or salads. It is one of the best storing reds keeps well into June. Tolerates high temperatures but is susceptible to disease excellent harvests and high yield potential. Developed for Southern growers, but can be good in the South and North for first early market potatoes. Red La Soda is a deep red mutant of La Soda, a variety developed by the Louisiana potato breeding program in 1948. La Soda was selected from a cross between Triumph and Katahdin. This potato is primarily grown in the southeastern U.S. It is harvested in the winter months as a fresh market variety. Specific gravity tends to be low, thereby making the tubers well suited for boiling. Red La Soda's red color tends to fade during long term storage.
