Clematis Bonanza

Clematis Bonanza, Clematis 'Bonanza™', is a newly developed clematis and part of The Festoon Collection. This new EvisonPoulsen clematis is extremely free flowering from late June through September. Bred for excellent disease resistance. Flowers are mauve blue with pale yellow anthers and are 3 in size. Do not underestimate the flower power of this variety because of the smaller flower size! 'Bonanza' Clematis needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established they take a season or two to get going. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one third to one half of some stems.
