Clematis Guernsey Cream, Clematis 'Guernsey Cream', is a very floriferous and compact cultivar. Masses of creamy yellow 6 flowers in late spring have overlapping petals giving the flower a very nice rounded appearance. A second flush of smaller flowers appear in late summer on the new growth. The cream flowers, with yellow stamens and a green bar at the centre, can fade easily in full sun so its best planted in some shade. Great against a dark background and can even be grown in a container. Clematis 'Guernsey Cream' needs a supporting structure to grow properly. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established they take a season or two.
