Columbine Woodside Gold, Aquilegia vulgaris 'Woodside Gold', is an enchanting columbine with unique golden yellow foliage in the spring. The bright foliage is topped with contrasting blue to rose colored flowers in late spring. As the season progresses, the leaves soften to a light yellow color. As it gradually transmutes into its light yellow summer garb, it imparts a bright glow to darker garden corners. Aquilegia 'Woodside Gold' provides wonderful early season color! It can be used individually in small clumps, or massed together in combined groupings to create a stunning explosion of extended color. 'Woodside Gold' is also resistant to deer and rabbits. 'Woodside Gold' is easily grown in average, medium, well drained soil in full sun to part shade. Tolerates wide range of soils except heavy, poorly drained ones. Prefers rich, moist soils with light to moderate shade. Remove flowering stems after bloom to encourage additional bloom. Keep soils uniformly moist after bloom to prolong attractive foliage appearance. When foliage depreciates, plants may be cut to the ground.
