Hosta Little Sunspot

Hosta Little Sunspot, Hosta 'Little Sunspot', is cute and petite. This small hosta is great for containers or landscape edging. Hosta 'Little Sunspot' was developed by Briggs Nursery and is a sport of 'Little Aurora'. The small gold leaves have .5 green margins and are slightly cupped. In midsummer, white flowers with delicate pale lavender stripes, are produced on 16 tall scapes. This small hosta can be mixed with other perennials in shady borders, rock gardens or woodland gardens, or used as an edging plant. Mass for a showy ground cover. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions. Hostas grow best in moist, well drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. High filtered or dappled sunlight is necessary for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas. They are most at home in shady, woodland settings and often work well as specimen or edging plants.
